We believe that the best way to treat disease is to prevent it. We are not an organic operation. We do use a strict vaccination protocol to prevent disease, but we do not use growth hormone implants in our cattle.

We work closely with our veterinarian and participate on the BI Prime Protection program, giving each calf vaccinations when they are a few weeks old and then a booster shot prior to weaning. We vaccinate our calves with 8-way and a modified live IBR/PI3/BVD product.

When we wean we also use an anti-parasite product such as Ivomec on the calves and on the cow herd. This is designed to kill biting insects such as lice and worms to help keep our animals healthy and our young calves growing. We try to rotate our pour on product to prevent resistance.

We are participating on the Express Verified program with our cowherd. This program will guarantee our calves against BVD-PI and ensures the reproductive health of our cowherd.

All vaccinations and pour on treatments follow label directions. We try to use only subcutaneous products for vaccination where possible, and keep records of all the treatments we do.

Through careful attention to disease prevention and a closed cowherd, we use almost no antibiotics. In the event antibiotics are required to solve a problem and eliminate animal suffering label directions are strictly followed and all treatments are recorded.

All treatments are strictly administered and recorded and we are proud to activley participate in third party verification through the Verified Beef Production On Farm Food Safety program. Reg # 2008 00072
